During the first three months of 2019, the production of heavy vehicles in Mexico registered a total of 51,058 units, the highest level compared to the same period of the last nine years, indicated data from the National Association of Bus Producers, Trucks and Tractor Trucks (ANPACT).

According to the latest report on the production and export of heavy units, during January, February and March 2019, 40.18% more vehicles were manufactured compared to the first quarter of last year, when production reached 36,422 units.

The total production from January to March 2019 exceeded the highest figure reached since 2015, when there was a production of 50 thousand 210 vehicles in the first quarter of that year.

Meanwhile, during the same period of years before and after 2015, the production of buses, trucks and tractors was lower than the 51,058 units produced in the first quarter of this year.

Regarding data exclusively for March, the ANPACT recorded the manufacturing of 18 thousand 448 units, which represents an increase of 27.6%, with respect to the same month last year.

“The boost in production is due to an increase in demand in the North American market, which has increased exports,” said Miguel Elizalde, Executive Chairman of ANPACT.

Regarding the shipments abroad of heavy units, the figures accumulated in the first quarter of this year indicated that the export of units of the federal motor transport was 41 thousand 940 units, that is, 34% more unlike the same period of the year passed when 31 thousand 320 vehicles were sent.

Also, only in March a total of 14 thousand 368 units were exported, which meant an increase of 15.56%, in relation to the month of March 2018.

“Today, however, our challenge is in regulatory matters, and is that the trucks we produce and export to other latitudes, also stay on the roads, roads and cities of Mexico, so that the Mexican population can enjoy a transport safer, more friendly with the environment and more competitive, “Elizalde added.
